I’m Betsy Simmons Fraser, a brand designer and maker based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and have been a creative problem-solver for decades. I am a storyteller through a visual means –– each logo I’ve designed, every launch, each package or handmade piece provides a story waiting to unfold for an audience longing to experience it.
A LITTLE ABOUT MY JOURNEY…
WHEN I APPLIED TO ART SCHOOL IN NYC. little did I know of the adventures ahead keeping me in New York for twenty years enjoying great jobs and working with uber-creative folks on amazing national and global brands.
FIRST STOP the crazy world of cosmetics working in-house with the creative department of Lancôme-Loreal Paris designing tester displays, shopping bags, banners, merchandising props and department store windows. My job was to animate any given product launch in-store and I loved every minute of it.
NEXT STOP was Landor Associates, the international design and branding firm. As a Design Director I lead teams in developing branding and packaging for national and global Fortune 500 companies such as Bath & Body Works, Proctor & Gamble, Schick/Wilkenson Sword and Kraft. The talent in that office was off-the-charts and I learned so much every day working with creatives from all over the world.
SINCE MOVING BACK to my hometown of Winston-Salem, NC, I’ve worked with local design firms creating branding and point-of-sale campaigns for North Carolina-based favorites such as Hanesbrands, Krispy Kreme and Biscuitville. I have helped individuals who are building their own brands turn their vision into a fully realized brand. I’ve also provided design solutions and creative services for local businesses.
ALL THIS TO SAY MY CAREER HAS RUN THE GAMUT, AND I’VE DEVELOPED ADAPTIVE DESIGN CHOPS BECAUSE OF IT, WHICH COMES IN HANDY SINCE EVERYONE’S NEEDS ARE UNIQUE AND EVERY PROJECT PRESENTS ITS OWN OPPORTUNITIES.
AFTER YEARS of graphic design and working in the digital space, I began to miss making things with my hands. So I returned to my love for sewing and hand-made gift-giving. I soon expanded my graphic design to a new offering in wool felt banners that express a brand story in an entirely different way through customized crafting.
This space is a place where passions collide, connections are made and collaboration is HUGE…
